self-portrait

Dear Anouk,

The last couple of weeks, we had to paint a self-portrait in art class.
Did you find it difficult to paint yourself? How did your painting work out? I’m really curious to the end result! After we had to make a sketch, I started to paint it. I think this was a difficult task but it turned out well.

After having finished the sketch I started thinking which expression I wanted to show with this painting. We had to stick to the Van Gogh style so I searched for paintings of Van Gogh to look how he did this. First we had to paint the background. You had to choose three colours to express your emotion. I chose black, red and yellow, with these colours I wanted to express stress and anger. I used fast and furious brush strokes. I am not an anger person but sometimes I just flip out. I don’t like that and therefore I thought it was a good idea to express myself not only from the good sides. The second thing I did were the clothing. I used the same colours and brush strokes to make a sweater. After this I went on with my hair and skin. The skin was a very difficult task! I just couldn’t get the right colour. But after a while mixing different colours I had just the right colour. Also, I made shades for the nose and chin. I didn’t had enough time to paint the mouth and eyes, so it looks a bit scary.

The question with this assignment was “who am I?”. I think I have very well expressed the bad side of me. Even that I don’t like this side. I hope you agree with me and that your painting also turned out well.

Van Gogh assignment

This assignment is about Van Gogh. We had to take a impressionism painting, not a famous one, and had to paint it. I have chosen the "Riverbank of the Seine", because it has a lot of colours and I like the movements in the painting.

Stained Glass Window

We had to draw an stained glass window. The inspiration for my drawing comes from the Canterbury Catherdral. For this drawing I have used a pencil and colour pencils.

We went to Canterbury cathedral with TTO, there we had to take up inspiration. For this assignment we had to draw decorations inside the cathedral. You can see a kind of altar with decoration behind it. I have drawn this drawing with a pencil.

Canterbury Cathedral

Before:

We go with TTO for a trip to Canterbury to learn about Canterbury and the environment. We also go to the Canterbury cathedral. I think the cathedral will be really impressive because you don’t see those big cathedrals oft and it has a long history. Because of the fact that I love to look for details in a building or painting I would like the cathedral because it is a big famous building. The cathedral has a long history, it became a very important pilgrimage place.

After:

We went to Canterbury and I noticed that it was an old, nice city. When we were waiting in front of the cathedral I was impressed about how big it was. When we went in, the first thing I saw was that beautiful stained glass window. When you looked up you saw a beautiful ceiling. The nicest part of the cathedral was the crypt of the cathedral because it is the oldest part of the hole cathedral. You could not take pictures but you saw nice painted walls. The cathedral became important for many Christians because of the murder of Thomas Becket.

-        What do you think you are going to see? I think the cathedral will be really impressive because you don’t see those big cathedrals oft.

-        Do you think you're going to like what you will see? Why do you think that? I think I will like it because I like to look for details in a building and therefore a cathedral is perfect.

-        What do you already know about the history of the cathedral? (Write a short summary in your own words.) The cathedral is very old and became a very important pilgrimage place.

a shoe design

Hello,
We have again a assignment done. It was a nice assignment because you had to design a sport-shoe.
My idee was to design a shoe with a zip.

illuminated letter

welcome back to my blog after the holidays!
we have already a assiment done, now i'm going to explane it.

We have to draw a illuminated letter.
First: you have to draw a sketch of your letter.
In a illuminated letter you have to decorate the letter with the things you like.
Second: you draw your letter on a A4 paper and colour it in.

It is the letter L because my name is Laura...
I am happy about the mark, 8.5,  because I think it is a real Illuminated letter.

The assigment was that you have made color circle.
you have made the different colors with the three primary colors (red, blue and yellow)

     And this is the result.

These are patterns I've found in my school on walls, mats and more.You make it to a paper on the surface and lay it with chalk to go over.

This is a paper with a music note. At the end you see an H and an L, Laura Hoek (my name). The black thing you see is what I have cut. I spray Whit graffity on that paper. Underneath was another paper. On that another paper was a beautiful music note.
